The Activate Via Your Web Browser dialog is the first step in activating StarSpikes Pro 4 using a Web Browser. It will create an Activation Request that must be provided to the Activation Server to activate the software.

The Activation Request to be used for activation MUST be generated by the plug-in that is to be activated running on the computer on which it will reside. You CANNOT successfully activate a plug-in using an Activation Request that was generated on another computer.

The Activation Request generated by the Activate Via Your Web Browser dialog is encrypted and will contain: The product ID and version, your License ID and Password, and mathematically derived keys used to uniquely identify the computer on which StarSpikes Pro 4 is installed.

Once activated, our software will periodically re-verify your license online using encrypted communications and the above information. As long as the license exists, a copy of this information will be retained.


On-Screen Instructions On-Screen Instructions

The dialog lists all of the steps to be taken to activate StarSpikes Pro 4. You will use this dialog to perform the first step in the list. You will then access the Activation Server Manual Request Web page (step 2) to submit the request.

The dialog also provides an Activation Request status line. When the dialog first opens, the status should look like this.

Beginning Status

Save As File button [ Save As File ] button

Click on the [ Save As File ] button to save the Activation Request to a file. You will be presented with a dialog that will allow you to save a file containing the Activation Request using a name and location you specify.

This is useful if you will need to use a Web Browser on another computer to activate the software. You can transfer the file, using a USB drive, to the computer you will use for activation and upload the file directly into the Activation Server Manual Request Web page.

If you have successfully saved the Activation Request to a file, the status line will look like this. Note that the displayed status message includes the name of the file that you just saved.

Copy to Clipboard button [ Copy to Clipboard ] button

Click on the [ Copy to Clipboard ] button (or type Control‑C) to copy the Activation Request to the clipboard.

This is useful if you will use a Web Browser that resides on the same computer as the StarSpikes Pro 4 copy that you intend to activate. You can then Paste the Activation Request directly into the Activation Server Manual Request Web page.

If you have successfully copied the Activation Request to the Clipboard, the status line will look like this.

This line in the Activate Via Your Web Browser dialog specifies the URL of the Activation Server Web page where you can submit the Activation Request. You can click on this URL to send your Web Browser to the Activation Server Manual Request Web page where you can use the Activation Request you just obtained to generate an Activation Response.


Enter Response Now button [ Enter Response Now ] button

The [ Enter Response Now ] button will become available (no longer grayed out) after you have clicked on either the [ Save As File ] button or the [ Copy to Clipboard ] button.

Click on the [ Enter Response Now ] button to be taken to the Activate With Received License Data dialog where you can enter the Activation Response returned by the Activation Server Manual Request Web page in response to your request.


Enter Response Later button [ Enter Response Later ] button

The [ Enter Response Later ] button will become available (no longer grayed out) after you have clicked on either the [ Save As File ] button or the [ Copy to Clipboard ] button.

If you don't care to complete the activation immediately, click on the [ Enter Response Later ] button to return to the Main Dialog. Now you can continue to use StarSpikes Pro 4 ( assuming the trial period has not expired ) until it is convenient for you to access the Activation Server Web Page and complete the activation.

Once you have accessed the Activation Server Web Page and obtained an Activation Response you can access the Activate With Received License Data dialog to complete the activation. The Web Browser Activation page of this manual explains how to do this.
