Loading Predefined SettingsThe Predefined Settings list in the Settings Selector is loaded automatically during startup from the StarFilter Pro 4 Settings Folder. Each set of settings is stored in a Settings File of the same name with a ".sfp extension. The Load Settings menu item in the Save / Load Predefined Settings menu, on the other hand, can load a StarFilter Pro 4 Settings File from any folder on your computer or network to which you have access. It can also load Settings Files created by earlier versions of StarFilter Pro. Note that Settings Files loaded using the Load Settings menu item will NOT appear in the Settings Selector. If you would like the settings file to appear in the Settings Selector, you should select the Import Settings menu item. |
You may have additional Settings Files in other folders. For example, Settings Files that are rarely used so you don't want them to appear in the Settings Selector. You can load these Settings Files using the Load Settings menu item in the Save / Load Predefined Settings menu.
Simply click on the Load Settings menu item and a File Open dialog will be presented. Navigate to the folder containing the file you wish to load, select the file and click on the Open button. The selected set of predefined settings will be loaded into the plug-in.
Once you have loaded a Settings File using the Save / Load Predefined Settings menu, all of the controls will be set to the values specified by the Settings File you loaded just as though you had selected a set of Predefined Settings using the Settings Selector.
Note that Settings Files created by StarFilter Pro 4 will always have a ".sfp extension.
You can also load Settings Files created by earlier versions of StarFilter Pro using the Load Settings menu item.
Click on the Load Settings menu item and a File Open dialog will be presented. Using the drop down menu in the lower right hand corner of the dialog, select "Older Settings" so that Settings Files from earlier StarFilter Pro versions (having a ".sss" extension) will be visible in the dialog.
WARNING: Prior to StarFilter Pro 4, all ProDigital Software products used the ".sss" file extension for Settings Files. However, you can only successfully load Settings Files with a ".sss" extension that were created by an earlier version of StarFilter Pro.
Navigate to the folder containing the Settings File you wish to load, select the file and click on the Open button. The selected set of predefined settings will be converted to be compatible with StarFilter Pro 4 and loaded into the plug-in.
Once you have loaded a Settings File using the Save / Load Predefined Settings menu, all of the controls will be set to the values specified by the Settings File you loaded just as though you had selected a set of Predefined Settings using the Settings Selector.
Because of the many enhancements that have been made to StarFilter Pro 4, it is possible that the converted settings may not give results that precisely match those that it produced in your earlier version of StarFilter Pro. However, only minor adustments should be necessary to make the results identical to (or even better than) those produced by your earlier Predefined Settings.
Should StarFilter Pro 4 be totally unable to convert a Predefined Settings file that you have attempted to import, it will report its inability to do so. Any Predefined Settings file that could not be converted will be moved from the Settings Folder to a "StarFilterPro4 Unusable Settings" subfolder:
C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\ProDigital\StarFilterPro4\Settings\StarFilterPro4 Unusable Settings
