Install Into An Image Editor Not Shown In Our Installer

This section provides generalized instructions on how to install AstroFlat Pro for use with an image editor that is not recognized by our installer.

It's important to understand that we install a copy of the plug-in on your system even if our installer doesn't see your editor. The locations in which to find the 32 and 64 bit copies of the plug-in are listed in the Plug-in File Locations section of this manual.

Use The Image Editor's Plug-in Interface Dialog (Preferred)

Editors that provide 8BF-style plug-in compatibility often provide a dialog through which you can configure a folder to be checked by the editor for plug-ins. If the editor provides such a facility, we recommend you configure it to run AstroFlat Pro directly from the folder containing the appropriate 32 or 64 bit plug-in variant, as identified in Plug-in File Locations.

Use The Editor's Plug-in Folder

If it does not provide direct configurability of where to find 8BF-style plug-ins, as listed above, your image editor may provide a folder location into which you can copy an xxxxxxxx.8bf plug-in file so it will be found and run. Examine the editor's documentation to determine if it uses this method and find out where its plug-in folder is located.

If the editor provides a folder for plug-ins, you must copy the appropriate 32 or 64 bit variant of the AstroFlat Pro plug-in into the plug-in folder of your image editor. If your image editor is a 32 bit application, you must copy the plug-in file AstroFlatPro.8bf into the editor's plug-in folder. If your image editor is a 64 bit application, you must copy the plug-in file AstroFlatProX64.8bf into the editor's plug-in folder. See Plug-in File Locations for the locations of the plug-in files.

You can do this by using one or more Explorer windows and the right mouse button. Drag the appropriate AstroFlat Pro plug-in file identified above to the image editor plug-in folder with the right mouse button held down. When you drop the plug-in file into the image editor's plug-in folder (releasing the mouse button), you will be prompted. Choose Copy to cause a copy of the AstroFlat Pro plug-in file to be placed in the image editor's plug-in folder.

Do NOT Move the AstroFlat Pro plug-in file to the image editor's plug-in folder - make sure to Copy it instead. Moving the plug-in file out of its normal location can interfere with proper operation and future updates.

Start your image editor, open an image, and verify that the AstroFlat Pro plug-in is available. See your image editor's documentation to determine where AstroFlat Pro should be found in the image editor's menu structure.

Remember: After having done a manual install by copy as above, if in the future you download and install an update to AstroFlat Pro, you will need to repeat the copy.

Note also that if you choose to uninstall AstroFlat Pro, you will also want to delete the plug-in file you copied into your editor's plug-in folder.
