Dark noise reduction (N) - Set the level of the dark noise reduction in the background of the image Dark Noise Reduction Control

Click the control icon or press N to activate.

Dark Noise Reduction reduces the amount of noise in the darkest parts of the image.

The first half (0 to 50) of the adjustment range of this control brings up the levels of the darkest pixels in the image to the base flatness level, and the upper half of the range lowers the level of light noise just above the base flatness level.

If you have actual dark nebulae in the image, minimize this adjustment. If, on the other hand, you have dark dust spots because of dirt on your imager, you may want to raise this control setting up until they are masked.

This control is part of the Flatness Derivation Settings control group.
