Import Predefined SettingsNormally the plug-in automatically sees any pre-defined settings you have stored from it (or a past version of it) in the default location. However, you may have files somewhere else containing saved Settings you would like to add to the list of Predefined Settings that will appear in the Settings Selector. You can add sets of Predefined Settings to those that already appear in the Settings Selector by using the Import Settings menu selection in the Save / Load Predefined Settings menu. For StarSpikes Pro 4, Settings Files that appear in the Settings Selector are stored in the folder: C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\ProDigital\StarSpikesPro4\Settings Note that Settings Files created by StarSpikes Pro 4 will always have a ".ssp" extension. |
Selecting the Import Settings menu item will cause you to be presented with a File Import dialog. Simply navigate to the folder containing the files you wish to import, select the files to be imported, and press the Import button.
The Settings Files you selected will be loaded and will immediately appear in the Settings Selector. Additionally, a copy of the Settings Files will be saved in the Settings Folder so that they will always be available when you run StarSpikes Pro 4.
You can also import Settings Files created by earlier versions of StarSpikes Pro using the Import Settings menu item.
Selecting the Import Settings menu item will cause you to be presented with a File Import dialog. Simply navigate to the folder containing the files you wish to import, select the files to be imported, and press the Import button.
WARNING: Prior to StarSpikes Pro 4, all ProDigital Software products used the ".sss" file extension for Settings Files. However, you can only successfully import Settings Files with a ".sss" extension that were created by an earlier version of StarSpikes Pro.
For example, Settings Files that you created with older plug-in StarSpikes Pro 3 will be found in the folder:
C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\ProDigital\StarSpikesPro3\Parameters
The Settings Files you import will be loaded and will be converted to be compatible with StarSpikes Pro 4. The converted Predefined Settings will immediately appear in the Settings Selector. Additionally, copies of the imported files will be saved in the StarSpikes Pro 4 Settings Folder so that they will always be available when you run StarSpikes Pro 4.
Note that any files that are imported must have a ".sss" or a ".ssp" extension. Files with a ".sss" extension that are successfully imported will be automatically renamed to use a ".ssp" extension as part of the conversion process. Files with any other extension will be ignored.
Because of the many enhancements that have been made to StarSpikes Pro 4, it is possible that the converted settings may not give results that precisely match those that it produced in your earlier version of StarSpikes Pro. However, only minor adustments should be necessary to make the results identical to (or even better than) those produced by your earlier Predefined Settings.
Should StarSpikes Pro 4 be totally unable to convert a Predefined Settings file that you have attempted to import, it will report its inability to do so. Any Predefined Settings file that could not be converted will be moved from the Settings Folder to a "StarSpikesPro4 Unusable Settings" subfolder:
C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\ProDigital\StarSpikesPro4\Settings\StarSpikesPro4 Unusable Settings
