Getting Started

The AstroFlat Pro content-aware plug-in analyzes the content of your image to determine what's subject material and what's background illumination, then allows you to manipulate settings to get the best overall luminance flattening.

The choices you make by changing the settings guide the analysis and flattening process. When you've got the flatness of the image looking just right, press the [ OK ] button to commit your changes back to your image in your editor.

A typical run of AstroFlat Pro goes something like this:

Open your image in your editor, e.g., Adobe® Photoshop®.
From the editor's menu, start AstroFlat Pro.
On the AstroFlat Pro Main Dialog, adjust the Smoothness control until you're just below the level where the background illumination begins to show.
Adjust the Edge Cleanup and Dark Noise Reduction controls to make the edges and dark parts of the image look good.
Optionally use the [ ] Enhance Preview checkbox to make it easy to see when you have the settings just right.
Press the [ OK ] button to commit the changes back to your image in your editor.
