Main Diffraction Spikes Control GroupMain Diffraction Spikes

The Main Diffraction Spikes control group in the Basic Controls contains Slider Controls with which you set how many highlights in your image will receive effects and adjust their appearance.

The following controls are found in the Main Diffraction Spikes control group:


Effect (:) - Select the type of Star Effect to apply to the image. Effect Selection

The Effect Selection control is used to select which type of effect you wish to render into your image.


Quantity (Q) - Sets how many highlights, ranked by brightness, will be given effects Quantity

Increase or decrease the number of highlights that are given effects, based on brightness.


Intensity (I) - Sets the brightness of the Primary Spike effects Intensity

Increase or decrease the brightness at which the Primary Spike effects are rendered.


Length (L) - Sets the lengths of the Primary and Secondary Spikes and the sizes of the Soft and Ring Flare effects Length

Increase or decrease the lengths and sizes of all of the effects.


Angle (A) - Sets the rotation angles of the Primary and Secondary Spikes Angle

Sets the angles of the Primary and Secondary Spikes. 0 degrees is straight up.


Number of Points (N) - Sets the number of Primary Spikes around a highlight Number Of Points

Sets the number of Primary Spikes that emanate from a highlight.


Spike Sharpness (S) - Sets the fuzziness or sharpness of the Primary and Secondary Spikes Spike Sharpness

Sets the sharpness (width) of the Primary and Secondary Spikes.


Spike Spread (K) - Sets how quickly the Primary and Secondary Spikes will spread out as the distance increases from the highlight Spike Spread

Sets the rate at which the Primary and Secondary Spikes spread wider as the distance increases from the highlight.
